Epoxy Marble &Stone Processing
Epoxy Marble & Stone Processing systems are a preferred choice for marble and stone processing applications due to its low colour, zero shrinkage on curing, high mechanical strength and chemical resistance.
A backing Epoxy Coat is applied to large slabs cut from the raw marble rock. A loosely woven glass fibre mesh is placed on the slab’s back surface. The liquid Epoxy Resin is applied and infused into the fibre mat. When fully cured, the desired reinforcement for processing the slab further is achieved. For the top surface of the marble, a liquid Epoxy Coating is applied to fill-in and seal all the pores; the stone surface is covered completely, to ensure excellent chemical resistance. When polished, this coating gives a smooth glossy finish.
The Epoxy Resin system recommended for this application is a two-component liquid system that exhibits low viscosity for efficient penetration into pores and infusion into glass fibre. The very low ‘water clear’ colour allows for a very clear coating post cure. They are generally fast curing; can be heat cured as part of an automated industrial operation or ambient cured.
